During the summer, make sure you carry extra water and sunscreen, as there is little shade to be found in the mountains. Carry the right equipment.
Make sure you pack an extra layer of clothing as temperatures can plummet high up in the peaks. Check the weather forecast before you set out and if the weather deteriorates, turn back. Conditions on the mountain can change quickly with fierce winds, low clouds and freezing temperatures making visibility and walking impossible.
Visit the Met Office website for a detailed weather forecast before you set out. In winter you will also need to check the snow and ground conditions. Snowdon by the Miners’ Track and the Pyg Track – WildþingUK

Please note that the video was published in and the parking charges have changed. Llanberis Path is the easiest and longest of the six main paths to the summit of Snowdon. Originally, tourists were carried up this path on ponies and mules, and to this day it continues to be a pony path.

Following the opening of the Llanberis pass in , the Miners Path was built to carry copper from the Britannia Copper Works near Llyn Glaslyn to Pen y Pass, where it was then transported to Caernarfon. The mining came to an end in , remains from the work can still be seen on the path to this day. There is some uncertainty about the origin of the word Pyg. It is believed that the path was named after Pen y Gwryd Hostel by climbers who stayed there.
Another possible origin is that the path was named after Bwlch y Moch the pass of pigs since the path crosses it, as it is sometimes spelled as Pig in English. Or it could have been named Pyg due to the fact that this was a path used to carry pyg black tar from the Britannia Copper Works in Cwm Glaslyn. The trail is attached to a public park in the town of Coleman and there is a spray park to enjoy when you get off the trail.
Trail is easy for littles with lots of rocks to climb for bigger kids.
There is a lovely stream the entire route, finishing with a small waterfall and lots of opportunity to throw rocks. We will definitely come again. Short, easy hike! Nice stream you walk beside the whole time. Very easy trail, makes for a great family walk to a pretty waterfall. Equally as accessible in the winter with proper attire.
The trail is well defined and easy to follow, perfect trail for all skill levels. Came across several groups with kids and dogs yesterday. Lovely little trail. No others were around. Beauty little waterfall :. Waterfall is pretty! Nice leisurely hike. A little tricky with the baby stroller and nagging wife but not too bad.

Great little trail to stretch the legs. Nice easy walk to a beautiful waterfall. Being late March, there is still a fair amount of ice and snow. Great little trail with a little waterfall. There's a water park on the way, so made it a whole fun adventure. My 8 year old had a blast, and we all enjoyed the trail. Crowsnest Pass, Alberta.go to site

The charity walk will see Lisa and her team of friends, family members and work colleagues climb the Pyg track and walk down the Miners track - a total of 7. Mountain challenge marks cancer battle. From here our route follows the main ridge path down to meet up with the Miners Track which then bears left grid ref. Dewi's role also involves conservation of the national park and a major project currently underway involves upgrading part of the Miners Track from Pen-y-Pass to the summit of Snowdon.
